We begin our celebration of Lent with the imposition of ashes on

into my furrowed brow,
marking me
with the sign of mortality,
the dust of last year’s palms.

The cross you traced
seared, smudged skin,
and I recalled other ashes
etched
into my heart
by those who love too little
or not at all.

Lenten Evening of Reflection

A Lenten Evening of Reflection will be held on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at 7pm. The guest speaker for this evening will be Sr. Paula Robillard, SSJ. Sr. Paula is the Springfield, MA Diocesan Director of Faith Formation and has led numerous retreats and retreat days.

Please plan on setting aside this evening to pause and reflect (and be refreshed) on your Lenten journey with Sr. Paula and the rest of our parish community.

Refreshments will be served by the Caregivers.

Advent Day of Prayer and Reflection

On Tuesday, December 9, 2008, Sacred Heart Parish will be hosting an ‘Advent Day of Prayer and Reflection’ from 8:45am to 1:30pm. Our presenter will be Sister Virginia Sheehan, SND, a dynamic and gifted speaker who has given many retreats and days of reflection throughout New England.

The day will begin with registration at 8:45am, followed by Mass at 9:00am celebrated by our pastor, Father Stan. Included in the program will be reflection, fellowship and lunch served by the ladies of the parish. This is a wonderful way to prepare for the coming of the Lord. Bring along a friend and take some time for yourself this Advent. All are welcome! There is no charge. Donations will be accepted.

Parish Mission

Under the direction of its chairman, Bishop Sam Jacobs, former chairman of the U.S. National Service Committee of Catholic Charismatic Renewal and Chairman of the U.S. Bishops Committee on Catholic Charismatic Renewal, Cross International Catholic Outreach is working to establish a stronger spiritual relationship between America’s Catholic parishes and their counterparts overseas -with the ultimate goal of helping the poorest of the poor.

From March 1 -5 we welcome Rev. Antony Savarimuthu who comes to us from Bronx, New York on behalf of Cross International Catholic Outreach. Parishes in underdeveloped countries represent more than an important source of spiritual truth for their community. They also stand as a beacon of hope for impoverished families who have nowhere else to turn for help. Come and hear how we can make a difference in the lives of our less fortunate brothers and sisters in the Third World.

Included will be Benediction (Sunday,) Stations of the Cross (Monday,) Penance Service (Tuesday,) and Mass (Wednesday.) All at 7pm.

new scripture course

Beginning Tuesday, September 4th, Rev. Karen Roy will be conducting a Scripture Course entitled “An Overview of the Acts of the Apostles.”

Sessions will be on Tuesdays at 10am and 7pm.

Women In the Bible
